Event: Davie Day
Date: Saturday, September 12
Time of Event: 11 - 8 pm
Shifts Available: 10 - 5 pm / 3 - 9 pm
Description of Event: The Davie Village, the heart of Vancouver’s vibrant West End, is celebrating its grand historical past and rich cultural diversity in a day-long, free community street festival, which supplies loads of fun for the whole family!
Activities will include: Main concert stage featuring a variety of talented local musicians and performers. Artists showcase with paintings, sculptures and crafts by local artisans. Community barbeque: free hot dogs (while supplies last). Dancing with professional troupes and free dance lessons. Heritage zone settings with costumed participants, horse carriage rides and historic tours. Kidzone full of activities. Doggy zone with dog wash, training tips, and canine fashion show street performers such as clowns, stilt walkers, buskers and unusual musicians will fill the street. Afternoon Tea area will include board games and a relaxing refuge area. Last, but not least, our Green Zone will house a mini sustainability expo with energy saving tips, products & methods.

Description of Event: Feast of Fields - a gourmet wandering harvest festival - is FarmFolk/CityFolk's annual fundraising event. With a wine glass and linen napkin in hand, you can taste the very best of BC from chefs, vintners, brewers, farmers, and food artisans from across the province. Connections are made between producers and chefs, food producers and consumers, and farm folks and city folks. These connections provide an increased awareness of and appreciation for local food and agriculture. Feast of Fields is a gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system.

Description of Event: Mommies on Main - this is the second annual show celebrating local and Canadian-inspired creations which will enhance every mom's life. The show will feature numerous products/garments and accessories that are designed and made in Canada. Bring the whole family as there will be something for everyone. The event will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2009, at the beautiful Heritage Hall on Main Street (3102 Main at 15th Avenue) in Vancouver. The event runs from 10:30 am to 4 pm. Come and enjoy a relaxing shopping experience and an opportunity to purchase directly from a fabulous assortment of Canadian artists, designers and crafters. The venue will offer tasty treats and beverages at reasonable prices as well as free face painting for the kids. 20% from door ticket sales will go directly to YWCA programs for single moms.

Event: TB Vets Fundraiser, “Swinging in the Rain”

Description of Event: Join TB Vets for the swinging event of the season. Put on your finest gown, a tux, your canadian forces uniform or come as you are, as long as your shoes are made for dancing. The Dal Richards Orchestra will keep everyone jiving. Flair bartenders, Marilyn Monroe impersonator, candy girls and a silent auction will make this a night to remember!
TB Vets: TB Vets Charitable Foundation was founded in 1945, and this year, we're celebrating victory all over again. TB Vets was founded by WWII veterans suffering from Tuberclosis. They built TB Vets into a charity dedicated to fighting respiratory disease. All funds raised at this event will provide respiratory equipment for BC Hospitals. Join us for this unique and fun event. We look forward to jiving with you on October 16th!
